Clearwater-Wells Gray Travel Guide
Welcome to Clearwater-Wells Gray!
Clearwater is the largest centre in the north Thompson Valley of the Okanagan. The town provides an excellent base to tour Wells Gray Provincial Park, a 522,000 hectare (1,290,000 acre) natural spectacle that boasts five large lakes and two significant river networks. Known also as the waterfall park, the rivers in Wells Gray plunge off of steep, craggy cliffs to form several awesome waterfalls, including Helmcken Falls, the fourth tallest waterfall in Canada. Visitors to the park can also enjoy an extensive network of hiking trails, which range from easy to moderate to challenging. Outdoor adventures such as fishing, canoeing, and both backcountry and cross-country skiing are all available within the spectacular scenery of the Cariboo Mountain Range. Explore the region on a self-guided excursion or with help from a local tour guide. Clearwater is located approximately 130 km (81 mi) north of Kamloops on the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 5).
